How many of you dream of a mini home? The trend is surely here, be it in urban settings, suburban or rural. There appears to be a movement where everyone wants a micro home. I have always loved cabins in the woods where I can get away and write. I have always been a writer, but am recently doing it as a freelance journalist now that my corporate career is something I have chosen to step away from as an empty nester.
So, my loving husband is building me this most wonderful mountain escape wonderland. We bought the shell of the cabin and had it delivered and set. My husband had all the land cleared in the woods, cut a road though nearly invisible for anyone who is looking, in order to get the cabin dropped in place. He cut all the pine trees and milled them to make the flooring that we installed together. He built the fireplace base and put in the fireplace and chimney himself. And, now in his woodshop he is building the bed frame out of cherry and also the couch out of cherry that will complete this lovely writers cabin.
I of course had to decorate it for Christmas as you know for my off the grid writers cabin, we will sit in here on Christmas Day with hot cocoa and reflect, in the silence, on our wonderful year.
Here are some amazing pictures of my new off the grid micro writers cabin –
While this is a work in progress, I must say that it is simple, elegant and touches my heart since all the work and lumber my husband cut, milled, worked, sanded and stained with his own loving hands — just for me.
Now that is a special Merry Christmas Gift!!!
